The hard part about writing is to write

Writing is hard. I think we could agree on that without any doubt.

In the past, whenever I picked up a pen or keyboard to write (like 10,000 trillion times over the last few years), something started to pop up in my head:

  • What if I make a fool of myself?
  • What if I write something that is not good enough?
  • What if I write something that is not true?
  • What if I write something that is not helpful?
  • What if I write something that is not interesting?

When I finally stopped thinking about these thoughts and picked up the pen, the new GREAT WALL appeared:

AI!

So, my mind generated new bullshit stuff to stop me from writing:

  • What if the thing I write is not as good as the content AI writes?
  • For what God-forsaken reason should I write when AI can do it better?

I mean, my reasons to not write just keep growing and growing and growing.

Today is the day I decided to write anyway. If for no good reason suddenly the skies opened up and fire rained down, I would still write.

If you are like me and hesitate to write, just write, and know that the first person you write for is yourself. Writing helps keep your thoughts, your ideas, your promises, etc., in a safe place.

Your blog is your own. Your blog is your memory palace (as Patrick Jane described his mind in The Mentalist series). Nothing can escape your memory palace.
